S³ expands seismic acquisition capabilities with investment in STRYDE system

S3 node deployment

STRYDE, the market- leading provider of land seismic nodal technology, has secured a purchase contract to supply Smart Seismic Solutions (S3) with a 20,000-node seismic system.

Under the agreement, S3, a leading provider of onshore seismic acquisition services, will add STRYDE’s Nimble system and 20,000 Range+ nodes to its advanced acquisition technology portfolio, following successful large-scale deployments of leased STRYDE nodes across Europe.

The move to ownership reflects S3’s continued use of STRYDE technology at scale across multiple projects and applications, and signals confidence in its ability to deliver consistent results across different survey environments.

Patrick Robert, CEO at S3, said: “We have a strong track record of successfully operating STRYDE’s seismic technology across major, large-scale new-energy projects in Europe. The system has enabled us to achieve faster survey turnaround times, reduce costs and streamline logistics, while continuing to deliver high-quality seismic data for our customers.
“The decision to purchase our own STRYDE system was an easy one; it is a key success factor in making seismic acquisition more affordable for new-energy exploration.”

In 2025, S3 deployed more than 42,000 STRYDE nodes in Denmark to support CarbonCuts in identifying suitable CO₂ storage locations, before delivering a geothermal survey in France later that year with a 4,000-node system. In January 2026, S3 followed this with a 50,000-node deployment in Denmark as part of the largest onshore seismic survey for CCS exploration in Europe.

Mike Popham, CEO at STRYDE, said: “This contract reflects our core mission: to make high-definition onshore seismic data affordable for any industry. Our simple, low-cost and easy-to-deploy technology is helping contractors acquire high-quality seismic data more efficiently, and we are excited to see pioneering companies like S3 invest in STRYDE to support new-energy markets.”

STRYDE’s Nimble Seismic System is an ultra-portable seismic acquisition solution designed for both conventional and high-density land surveys. Its batch-handling capabilities, built-in automation and modular design enable rapid node throughput in camp, helping to reduce survey costs, logistics and project timelines. Paired with STRYDE’s miniature and low-cost nodes, this allows companies to increase data density and improve subsurface imaging quality without materially extending project schedules or budgets.
