Demand for higher-definition seismic imaging is pushing onshore surveys towards larger channel counts and faster daily roll rates. While nodal technology has transformed field acquisition, true scalability depends on more than simply making receivers smaller and lighter.

In this presentation, STRYDE Product Manager Tom O’Toole applies the Theory of Constraints to the complete seismic production workflow, examining where bottlenecks emerge as nodal crews scale. Drawing on experience from operations involving up to 165,000 channels, the presentation explores how node design, field logistics, charging, data download and equipment handling collectively determine system throughput.

It shows why the key constraint on large-scale nodal acquisition often lies in the camp rather than the field—and why individual manual handling becomes impractical at high daily node volumes. The presentation compares camp architectures and demonstrates how high-capacity, modular batch handling can dramatically reduce manual operations, equipment footprint, headcount and operational costs.
